Practical, Affordable & Durable Solutions.
About Patrick
Patrick G. Leamy, Barrister & Solicitor, brings over 20 years of family law practice experience to the mediation table. He believes that mediation empowers parties to develop their own agreements arising from separation—agreements that are mutually acceptable, affordable, and built to last.
As a neutral facilitator, Patrick acts for both parties together. He does not provide legal advice, nor does he judge who is "right" or "wrong". Instead, he fosters a private, confidential environment where you can communicate openly to reach settlements that work for your unique situation and your children. Patrick is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Alberta Family Mediation Society, of Family Mediation Canada, and the Community Mediation Calgary Society. Because mediations are conducted remotely via MS Teams, Patrick serves clients throughout Alberta.
Why Mediation?
Mediation is often faster, more private, and significantly more affordable than litigation. It allows you to maintain control over the outcome rather than having a decision imposed upon you by a court. Court decisions often break the issues arising from a separation into small expensive parts decided in isolation, failing to address the issues as a whole. Mediation empowers the parties to craft comprehensive multi-issue resolutions that save time, stress and money.
At Bridges Mediation, the process is without prejudice and absolutely confidential. This means that open and honest communication is encouraged, as discussions cannot be used against you in court proceedings.
Parties may choose to attend sessions with or without their legal counsel present.
To ensure a productive, safe, and respectful environment, all participants are asked to consider some basic guidelines about what to expect.
Services
Patrick assists parties in resolving the following matters arising from separation:
Developing practical schedules and parenting plans that prioritize the well-being of your children.
Navigating financial obligations to ensure children are supported according to the law.
Facilitating conversations regarding spousal support to reach equitable outcomes consistent with established guidelines, and structured in a manner to work for both parties.
Assisting with the division of family property and assets in a transparent and organized manner.
Pricing
Bridges Mediation charges significantly less than other mediation services charge. Mediation services are provided at a $800 flat rate per half day booked (4 hours) + GST, payable in advance. In most cases parties to mediation share the costs of mediation equally. Mediations are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams for the convenience of all participants, for scheduling flexibility, so all participants feel secure in their own environment, to support the use of whiteboard, child support, parenting and property division software screen sharing, and to support a significantly lower cost. In the event a full day mediation resolves early and an afternoon session is not required or started, afternoon session deposits will be refunded.
Family Law Software
Patrick is also a software developer, and has developed the following Windows applications designed to provide exceptional functionality to Canadian mediators, lawyers and unrepresented parties in the area of family law. PuLsE is, however, just for fun ...
